A Karjat Weekend from Mumbai Without Overplanning

Askara Luxury Farmstay ·

The Askara swimming pool in daylight

The point of leaving Mumbai for a weekend is to slow down. The easiest way to ruin that is to plan every hour.

Decide only three things

Who is driving or how you are travelling, what time you aim to arrive, and one thing you want to do outside the stay — if anything. Leave the rest open.

Time your departure around traffic

Travel times out of Mumbai change a lot with the day and hour. Check live traffic before you leave and build in slack rather than racing a fixed check-in time. At Askara, check-in is at 1 pm.

Pack light, but pack for outdoors

  • Swimwear and a change of clothes
  • Comfortable shoes for walking on grass and paths
  • Insect repellent and sunscreen
  • A light layer for cooler evenings
  • Any medicines you need

A weekend that runs itself

Arrive, eat, swim. Spend the late afternoon at the pool or under the trees, then dinner and perhaps a bonfire. Next morning take a canal walk before breakfast and leave after the 12 pm check-out without rushing.
