Planning Meals for a Karjat Farmstay Weekend

Askara Luxury Farmstay ·

The lamp-lit dining deck at Askara in the evening

Food shapes a farmstay weekend more than almost anything else. A few messages in advance make meals easy.

Tell the kitchen early

Share vegetarian and non-vegetarian counts, allergies, Jain or other preferences and spice levels a few days before arrival.

What Askara serves

Home-style Maharashtrian cooking, freshly prepared in the farm kitchen and served hot as part of unlimited premium food packages. Breakfast is things like kanda poha or upma with tea; lunch and dinner include dal, vegetables, chicken curry or rassa, rice and roti or bhakri; high tea has bhajji and masala chai. Farm-grown okra, bottle gourd and greens are used in the cooking.

Availability matters

All meals depend on what is available in the local markets, so treat the menu as a guide rather than a guarantee.

Timing for groups

Agree rough meal times with the group so the kitchen can serve everything hot. Late afternoon high tea is a good way to bring people back together.
