Planning a Family Farmstay in Karjat with Children

Children usually love a farmstay — open space, water and animals or trees to explore. A little planning keeps it easy for the adults too.

Water safety first

Agree before you arrive which adult is watching at each swim. Ask whether there is a shallow pool; at Askara there is a separate baby pool where little ones can splash, alongside the main pool.

Food children will eat

Farmstay menus are often regional. Tell the hosts ahead of time about allergies, spice levels and picky eaters. At Askara meals can be customised to preferences — mention it when you enquire.

Keep a loose rhythm

Children do best with familiar anchors: meals, a rest after lunch and an early night. Fit play around those rather than the other way round.

Outdoor play ideas

  • A farm tour to see the fruit trees and vegetable beds
  • Cricket or badminton on the grass — equipment is available
  • Board games for slow afternoons
  • In season, picking mangoes with us (seasonal, extra charge)

Pack for a farm

Closed shoes, a spare set of clothes per day, a hat, insect repellent and any medicines. Clothes will get muddy, especially in the monsoon.
